The average age of the aircraft operated by the Belarusian flag carrier Belavia slightly exceeds 11 years, BelTA learned from Belavia Director General Igor Cherginets at a press conference dedicated to Civil Aviation Workers' Day.
At present Belavia has 13 aircraft, with the average age at 11.2 years. “It is quite a good figure. Aircraft of Western manufacture can be operated forever, as a matter of principle.
The notion of air worthiness is the only stumbling block. Aircraft can be used to transport passengers until they are 30-35 years old,” Igor Cherginets said.
